Robert Plant Receives Lifetime Achievement Award at Americana Honors & Awards, Pays Tribute to Dolly Parton

Robert Plant, the iconic former frontman of Led Zeppelin, was honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 25th annual Americana Honors & Awards ceremony, held inside the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. The evening celebrated Plant’s decades-long evolution from hard-rock pioneer to one of the most respected figures in modern roots, folk, and Americana music.

Taking the stage to accept the honor presented by his longtime friend and collaborator Buddy Miller, Plant delivered an emotional speech reflecting on his musical journey and his deep connection to American roots music:

“To say that my life has changed considerably in the last few years… 20 years ago today on a Nashville Sunday morning, I knocked on a door just up the street from here and I was welcomed by the charming Alison Krauss and the formidable T Bone Burnett. I crossed the threshold apprehensive and eager, and I was welcomed with warmth and kindness into their worlds.”

During his address, Plant paid special tribute to legendary artists who paved the way for the genre, closing with a heartfelt nod to the late Dolly Parton, who was also posthumously honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award that same evening:

“I offer a debt of thanks and for the shining of a light so special that radiates through all idioms to lift the heart with a smile and joy that is Dolly Parton.”

Following his speech, Plant performed atmospheric renditions of “Satan Your Kingdom Must Come Down” and “Angel Dance,” cementing a milestone night that highlighted both his enduring legacy and his ongoing contribution to the global Americana movement.
