The final weekend of August is bringing one last major wave of European festivals before the summer season begins to wind down. From rock and alternative in Paris and the UK to electronic music in Cheshire and an eclectic mix of music, art and culture in Ireland, August 26–30 offers plenty of reasons to keep travelling.
Here are some of the festivals worth having on your radar.
ROCK EN SEINE — PARIS
26–30 August 2026
Domaine National de Saint-Cloud, Paris

Rock en Seine is one of the strongest choices for anyone looking for a final European festival weekend built around rock, alternative and contemporary music.
The 2026 lineup brings together Tyler, The Creator, Lorde, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Black Keys, Franz Ferdinand, Deftones, Turnstile, Amyl & The Sniffers, Interpol, Slowdive, Mogwai, Wolf Alice and many more. The Cure will close the festival on Sunday, August 30.
For MPM readers, this is arguably one of the most exciting festivals of the late-August calendar — a meeting point between established alternative icons and some of today’s most interesting artists.
MPM pick: The Cure / Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds / Deftones
READING FESTIVAL — READING
27–30 August 2026
Richfield Avenue, Reading

Reading remains one of Britain’s essential festival destinations, bringing together major international artists and the next generation of alternative, indie, pop and rap.
The 2026 lineup includes Charli XCX, Florence + The Machine, Fontaines D.C., Chase & Status Live, Dave, Raye, Skepta, Loyle Carner, Kneecap, Viagra Boys, Geese, Declan McKenna and more.
The festival’s strength has always been its ability to move between genres without losing its identity. One stage can deliver a major pop performance while another introduces the next band that everyone will be talking about.
MPM pick: Fontaines D.C. / Viagra Boys / Geese
LEEDS FESTIVAL — LEEDS
27–30 August 2026
Bramham Park, Leeds

Running during the same weekend as Reading, Leeds offers another huge snapshot of contemporary British and international music.
The 2026 bill features Charli XCX, Florence + The Machine, Fontaines D.C., Chase & Status Live, Dave, Raye, Skepta, Kasabian, Blossoms, Declan McKenna, Kneecap, Geese and many others.
Beyond the headliners, Leeds is particularly interesting for its range of stages. The festival includes dedicated spaces for dance music, emerging artists and late-night performances, making it much more than a traditional main-stage event.
MPM pick: Fontaines D.C. / Kasabian / Blossoms
CREAMFIELDS — CHESHIRE
27–30 August 2026
Daresbury, Cheshire

For electronic music, few events close the European summer season quite like Creamfields.
The 2026 edition celebrates 20 years at Daresbury and features an enormous lineup across house, techno, trance, drum & bass and hard dance. Among the major names are Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia, Disclosure, Martin Garrix, Armin van Buuren, Alesso, Carl Cox, Amelie Lens, Underworld, Tiësto, Faithless, Fatboy Slim, Fisher, John Summit and many more.
With more than 80,000 fans expected, the festival is once again set to transform Cheshire into one of Europe’s major electronic music destinations for the August Bank Holiday weekend.
MPM pick: Swedish House Mafia / Disclosure / Underworld / Amelie Lens
ELECTRIC PICNIC — IRELAND
28–30 August 2026
Stradbally Hall, County Laois

Electric Picnic is one of those festivals that refuses to be defined by music alone.
The Irish festival combines concerts with art, theatre, comedy, food and cultural experiences across the Stradbally estate. The 2026 lineup includes Gorillaz, Fontaines D.C., CMAT, Sombr, Zara Larsson, Skepta, Wunderhorse, Role Model, Geese, Djo, JADE, Wolf Alice and many more.
The festival describes itself as Ireland’s largest gathering of music and arts, and its programme extends far beyond the main stages, with dedicated areas for visual art, theatre, spoken word, comedy and late-night electronic music.
MPM pick: Gorillaz / Fontaines D.C. / Wolf Alice / Djo
LOST VILLAGE — LINCOLNSHIRE
27–30 August 2026
Lincolnshire, England

Lost Village offers something completely different.
Set among forests, derelict buildings and atmospheric installations, the festival combines electronic music with food, comedy, talks, creative workshops and wellness experiences.
The 2026 music programme features artists including 2manydjs, Caribou b2b Solomun, Confidence Man, DJ Koze, Elder Island, Ezra Collective, Folamour, Peggy Gou, Solomun, Soulwax, The Avalanches, Young Marco and many more.
The festival is currently sold out, although official ticket resale is available, alongside limited boutique and ticket packages.
It is less about simply watching bands and more about entering a temporary world built around music, food, art and discovery.
MPM pick: Soulwax / Peggy Gou / The Avalanches / Caribou
THE LAST BIG WEEKEND OF SUMMER
The final days of August demonstrate just how diverse Europe’s festival landscape has become.
Paris brings The Cure, Nick Cave and Deftones.
Reading and Leeds bring the biggest names in contemporary British music.
Creamfields takes over Cheshire with some of the world’s leading electronic artists.
Electric Picnic turns music into a wider cultural experience.
And Lost Village creates its own world somewhere between a festival, an art project and a late-night adventure.
For anyone not quite ready to say goodbye to festival season, August 26–30, 2026, may be the perfect final escape of the European summer.
